Funerals – the ultimate emotional rollercoaster

I have reached middle age – or a bit past middle, headed to “age”. It is a time that I love, a time when I am more comfortable in my own skin than I have ever been. It is also a time when losing people that I love seems to be happening more frequently. Death seems to magnify who we are – or actually how we respond to things that scare us or make us uncomfortable. We rally as families and appreciate the good, the bad, and the ugly of those relationships and realize that no matter how hard we try to “get over it”, when a loved ones dies, it sucks.
